Think right, and positive. And tell yourself that you are a winner, and do things against your prohibited desires, which leads you towards endless sinking in terms of worldly matters.

Leave your work as soon as the call for prayer has been made, or when it is the time of prayer. Pray on time, which will make you more punctual, and teaches you to fulfill your commitments. And will save you from lying, cheating, stealing, and many other things. Because when you lie for a small thing, then you try and support that lie, then you will keep lying and lying, and you will think, that the person you are lying to is a fool, and you are losing the trust of that person, every time you lie in front of him, and in the future would be scared to deal with you on terms of trust, and will be under the impression that you lied to him, and that liar's family are cheaters and stealers, and they are all part of the same group, and you will be labeled for lying. And this habit which people apply to anyone, regardless mother, father, brother, sister, relative, or friend, and as a result you feel that your fortune wheel is jammed.

This stops all success, which is stopped by you, and not by Allah.

Allah solves problems, while ignoring our sins, and whenever we are stuck in our lifetime, we start to remember Allah, and we forget him as soon as the problem is over, and this also stops success. 

Always keep in mind that if you get power from any higher authority, such as a president of the country, and lets assume he says that I am back of you, and will support you financially. Everyone will call you there best friend, and relative, because you have sources and power, and you will become a star in society. Now lets imagine that the creator of the universe, who has made us from a single cell, and has given us status, success, happiness, anything desirable. If we start to obey Allah, and follow Him, then see what Allah says in the Qur'an:

And when My slaves ask you (O Muhammad SAW) concerning Me, then (answer them), I am indeed near (to them by My Knowledge). I respond to the invocations of the supplicant when he calls on Me (without any mediator or intercessor). So let them obey Me and believe in Me, so that they may be led aright.

Whatever is mentioned above, is the real key to success, for any individual. So make sure that you get backup from the highest authority in the universe, so you have a trouble free life here and in the hereafter. And make sure that do not depend on belief, put action, and start to obey and follow His orders, and the examples of his Messenger , and then see what kind of true peace and success you will get in your life, which cannot be earned in this world, regardless of wealth earned. 

Make sure that if you want to be truly successful in this life, than follow the examples of the Prophet , which is from Allah. Who sent Him as a mercy to mankind, so implement His lifestyle, based on day to day affairs in your life. Remember there is never any tomorrow, do not wait for tomorrow.

How can I implement the footsteps of the Prophet in my life?

Just use the words which he started from the time of waking up, till the end of his day.
