And if you fear (an enemy), perfrom Salāt (pray) on foot or riding[].
And when you are in safety, offer the Salāt (prayer) in the manner
He has taught you, which you knew not (before).
The verse mentioned above
refers to Allah telling us that in any condition, regardless if one is in
a war, or any other condition, it is a must to perform prayers. Now one
can see most of the time, that the enemies are more than the believers in
the battle field, but still there is no forgiveness for prayer, because in
any condition help comes only through prayer (salah), regardless in the
time of peace, or in the time of an emergency, or if someone is sick, or
if one is in a financial difficulty. Whoever does not seek help through
salah (prayer) from Allah, then he or she is only misguided by Satan.
Isha is read about one and a
half hour after mughrib.

And perform As-Salāt (Iqāmat-as-Salāt), and give Zakāt,
and Irka' (i.e. bow down or submit yourselves with obedience to Allāh)
along with ArRaki'ūn.

O you who believe! Seek help in patience and As-Salāt (the
prayer). Truly! Allāh is with As-Sābirin (the patient ones,
etc.).

-
Isha has four
optional sets (rak'a), which are according to Prophetic traditions.
-
And it has
four obligatory sets (rak'a), The first two sets
are read with the first chapter of the Qur'an (Surah fatiah)
and a chapter (surah) after, and in the last two sets (rak'a) the
first chapter (surah faitah) is only read (click
here to view instructions on how to perform the first two sets (rak'a))
-
Then there is
two more sets (rak'a), which is according to Prophetic tradditions.
-
One has an
option to perform to voluntary sets (raka') after.
-
If one is not
in practice of reading tahaajud (nightly optional prayers), which has
a very big importance, then can read one, three, or five witr, according to
what tradition one would like to follow from the Prophet.

-
After Mughrib
prayer, while we were eating, talking, and so on, then before going to
bed, Allah gives us a chance, for our food from dinner to receive
circulation because of the movement in the prayer. And we do not sleep
with a heavy stomach, and we have a chance to digest our food.
-
Ourselves and
our family, if we read five times prayers, our lifestyle is so
organized, that everyone sleeps tension free, after making
prostrations (sajdah), and seeking repentance.
-
This
prayer tells us that our day is over, whatever good or bad was done by
us during the day, we should realize and seek repentance from the Most
Merciful, Allah. And justify our daily dealings, because this may be
the end of the day or possibly our last day.
Because once we go to sleep, until
we do not wake up, then our soul is out of our bodies.
Now one may ask,
what benefit is Allah getting when his creature is practicing Islam?
Allah is our
creator, and he orders the best for us. And by following his orders he
does not benefit, but we as his creations benefit, and we have a peaceful
and easy life.
