Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him ) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. (2:6)

The non-believers (kaafirs) and those who do not practice Islam (for example the 50/50 Muslims, or casual ones) are those who give first importance to there worldly matters. They are those who will listen to guidance, but they will do what benefits them temporarily. They will not practice, and will  only run after money and status. They will not sacrifice that, until they seek repentance from Allah, and they tune up themselves, inshallah.

In this verse, Allah tells us through the Holy Prophet, in order to understand, and not feel disappointed, when we are conveying the message of Islam. Maybe if that individual  has committed a very big sin, he/she would be unable to receive guidance from Allah, they will do whatever they feel like doing.
